FURUNO acquires EMRI A/S

FURUNO has acquired all activities in EMRI A/S, which from the today is a wholly owned subsidiary of Furuno Danmark A/S

EMRI develop, manufacture and service advanced autopilots, maneuver and control systems as well as Joystick and dynamic positioning systems. Furuno's autopilot FAP-2000 - today the FAP-3000 - are OEM products from EMRI, just as our speed pilot, which will be introduced later this year, has been developed in close collaboration with EMRI.

EMRI, based in Herlev, a suburb of Copenhagen, has a staff of 22 employees with 8 engineers in the development department, 6 + 4 employees for production and service as well as 4 employees in sales / marketing and administration.

The company, founded in 1972 by Christian Nørtoft Thomsen, was purchased 9 years ago by Christian's son Claus Nørtoft Thomsen, who has been employed by EMRI for 17 years, of which the last 9 years as CEO.

After July 1, Claus continues as CEO of EMRI A/S, which does not change its name after the acquisition.

The reason for the acquisition is justified by FEC's plans to position Furuno solidly in the Deep Sea shipping market, the Cruise vessel market and in automated vessels - ultimately autonomous vessels. EMRI's know-how and experience complement Furuno's competencies and expand our product range.

Cooperation and business relations between FDK and EMRI will remain unchanged. For more information, please also read the attached press release and learn more about EMRI and EMRI’s product portfolio at: www.emri.dk
